The Hunt |
|||
| We specialize in high
quality horseback hunts in the game rich Gallatin Mountains of
south-central Montana, near the edge of Yellowstone
National Park. One of the West's all time best game ranges, the mountains of the central
Gallatin Range, drift into the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park harboring large herds of big game. From willow laced stream bottoms through golden meadows and dark timber ridges of the high country, superb elk, deer and bear take cover to the wind swept slopes of Packsaddle, Twin and Ramshorn Peaks. As home of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep as well as Mountain goat, you'll hunt abundant game with chances at good trophies. From our base camp on
Fisher Creek you'll hunt an area encompassing some 64 square
miles. It straddles one of the major migration routes of the Yellowstone elk herd, estimated at
15,000 animals.
Big bulls from park herds replenish our range yearly, which are at an all time high. Of course, we can't guarantee
you'll kill a six point bull, but you will see elk. Our success rate on mature bulls averages 60% or better.Early season bow hunting during the rut in September is especially exciting. Rut crazed bulls answer the bugle readily and come in close. In the first week of the ' 2001 season, we called in eight bulls. In addition to unsurpassed pack-in hunting for Trophy Elk, Mule Deer, Moose, Sheep and Goat in the Gallatin Mountains, we also offer exciting and less demanding hunting from 4WD vehicles for Trophy Whitetails, Mule Deer, and Antelope on one of the largest private ranches in south-central Montana. |

The Camp |
||||
Hunting Montana's Big
Sky with Bear's Den Outfitters is more than just hunting. It's warm carpeted tents on
cold nights, hot cowboy coffee on chilly mornings, and food your Grandma might have made, and plenty of it. Our
cooks bake fresh cakes, pies, cobbler, and cookies daily. Our breakfasts are all "cooked-to-order." Wrap
your belly around eggs (any way you want 'me), omelets, flap-jacks, toast, ham, bacon or sausage (one or all three
at every breakfast), home fries, juice...well you get the aroma. Our lunches are just as good. Whether you prefer
it hot in camp (homemade soups, chili, fresh fruit) or wish to take a big sack lunch to go, we'll ensure you don't
go hungry. Finish off the day with cocktails and hors d'oeurves, telling stories of the day's
hunt. Then sidestep up to a dinner of custom cut beef steaks, pork loins, or barbecued chicken and ribs.You may groan when you stagger off to your warm sleeping quarters with foam-cushioned beds, but you'll be rarin' to go when you smell the next morning's fresh coffee, mixed with a tang of fresh pine woodsmoke and pure high mountain air. You'll understand why one outdoor writer calls a high mountain hunting camp "the closest thing to heaven on earth." |

Trophy Care |
||||
| We provide our client's with some unique services not provided by most outfitters: a full facility trophy care and butcher shop "on-site". We employ a professional meat cutter at the Bear's Den Ranch on the Wineglass Mountain south of Livingston. So if you kill a six point bull, he could be caped out, butchered, and wrapped to order. The meat is froze, ready to ship, and the cape sent to the taxidermist, all within 48 hours, at no extra charge. | ||||
